1. Go Down to the Evergreen Lake

Downtown Evergreen, located along Colorado Highway 74, is a charming location with shopping, restaurants, and other amenities, and it’s just a short walk from lovely Evergreen Lake. You can stop by one of the eateries, such as Maya’s Cantina & Grill or the Bait Shack Tavern, for food and drinks. 

2. Explore the Lariat Loop

The Lariat Loop, which connects the communities of Evergreen and Golden, is a forty-mile beautiful road that travels through the foothills. This drive is one of Colorado’s 13 National Scenic Byways. The five-mile Lariat Trail, which crosses Lookout Mountain, Buffalo Bill’s famous resting site, highlights the route.

3. Visit Buffalo Overlook

Genesee Park is located north of Evergreen on I-70 and is part of Denver’s Mountain Parks system. Genesee Park is a popular destination because of its close proximity to Denver. It has miles of sports fields, trails, a campground, and picnic areas. In addition, the Buffalo Overlook draws a large number of tourists to Genesee Park. 

4. Tour Around Hiwan Heritage park

Hiwan Heritage Park and Museum is a place rich in history. Every day, visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the grounds. Indoor guided tours can be booked online. Visitors are shown around the bedrooms, dining rooms, and towers inside the house.

5. Explore Mount Evans Byway

The Mount Evans Byway is reached from Idaho Springs. It puts visitors within easy walking distance of the summit. The route begins in Idaho Springs and climbs 6,000 feet in elevation. 

It is the highest paved road in North America. You should consider starting your journey from Evergreen by crossing Highway 103. You can then connect with the typical route at Echo Lake.

6. Sightsee at Echo Lake Mountain Park

Echo Lake is part of Denver’s vast Mountain Park system. The park features a magnificent lake at an elevation of almost 10,000 feet. It also offers fishing, hiking, and the unique Echo Lake Lodge. 

7. Go on a Hike

The park has approximately fifteen miles of trails and two trailheads. Hikers who are up for a challenge can walk straight to the park from Evergreen along the 3.5-mile Pioneer Trail. Picnic tables and facilities are accessible at the trailheads, and lucky hikers may see elk and other wildlife.
