Byers Peak is a lovely, peaceful campsite. While it doesn’t feel like you’re on a Christmas tree farm, it offers a good enough experience.
It’s wonderful to let your dog run about without worrying about being hit by a car. However, if you have pets, you should be wary of wildlife encounters. Site 1 and 2 are equally good. They’re practically next to each other, separated by acres of woodland. Site 1 is a short distance just near the driveway, while site 2 appears to be a round-about.
During snowstorms, the hosts keep the sites and access clear for easy going in and out. When you arrived, there was even a campfire waiting for you.
The staff is exceptionally accommodating and offers privacy which is nice, given that you’re in a campground. The location is also excellent since the Winter Park ski resort is only a 20-minute drive up the road. However, mountain traffic will take you at least 45 minutes to return to the camp. You also get access to potable water and a dump station 20 miles away in Granby.
